Almonds improve sensitivity to insulin and lower the cholesterol levels at people who are on the verge to get diabetes. This was confirmed in an experiment that was conducted at the Medical University of New Jersey. The experiment was made with 65 participants (48 women and 17 men, average age 55 years),in whom diabetes did not develop in "full strength."
It is known that almonds contain no cholesterol. Compared to other nuts they have the highest dietary fiber, magnesium, protein, potassium, copper and vitamin E. Influences on lowering cholesterol , reduces the risk of heart disease and blood vessels.
By increasing sensitivity to insulin (decrease insulin resistance) increases its effect so that the blood sugar drops at a person whose pancreas still has the ability to produce insulin.
